It is located in the Bargello’s palace. It was opened in 1865 thanks to contribution from the Uffizi and Zecca families, to the State archive and private contributions, and holds a remarkable importance for the collection of tuscan sculptures from the renaissance period and the french middle age ivories.
St. Florence Palace (Palazzo di S. Firenze)
The palace represents evidence of the late Florentine baroque style. It is currently, partially, the residence of the tribune.
Gondi Palace (Palazzo Gondi)
Wealthy fifteenth century residence encloses a harmonious portal courtyard.
Casa Buonarroti
The palace was built by the Michelangelo’s grandnephew the Young, who also commissioned the construction of the gallery and cabinet that today, still represent evidence of the seventeenth century Florentine.
Santa Croce Square (Piazza Santa Croce)
In the fourteenth century the vast and rectangular square was used as a meeting place and Florentine football field.
Santa Croce Basilica
Arnolfo of Cambio began to erect the basilica in 1295 and was completed it in 1385. It represents the gothic style architecture and is still famous today for being the pantheon of renowned italians.
Santa Croce’s Opera Museum (Museo dell’Opera di Santa Croce)
It occupies the areas of the convent next to the church. It comprises the famous Pazzi chapel, an original and harmonious creation from the renaissance period, masterpiece by Filippo Brunelleschi. It was greatly damaged by the flooding in 1966.
Via Magliabechi
A characteristic Florentine street along which, we find palaces and houses from the fifteenth and sixteenth century.
Museo Horne
Holds an important collection of paintings, tiles, glass, sculptures and coins dating back to the 14th-16th century.
Ponte alle Grazie
Was rebuilt in 1957 following the destruction of the germans. It originates from the thirthteenth century.
Bardini Museum (Museo Bardini)
The palace holds a collection of paintings, furniture, sculptures and ceramics donated by the collector and antique dealer Stefano Bardini. Among the most important pieces, we find Romanesque sculptures from the imperial epoch, two polychrome terracotta’s, one of which is attributed to Donatello whilst the other to Benedetto da Maiano.
