The Hill (full day)

It faces the left embankment of the Arno. The itinerary unwinds through St. Miniato and belvedere’s fortress.

Viale dei Colli
It is a beautiful 6km walk, across the slopes of the hills, south of the town.


Michelangelo Square (Piazzale Michelangelo)

Realized around 1875 and offers a splendid view of the city.


San Salvatore al Monte
The church was built by (1499). On the interior, inside the only nave, we can admire the few ruins left of the renaissance decorations.


San Miniato al Monte
An example of Florentine Romanesque architecture, the church was erected between 1018 and 1207. The facade in white and green marble with geometric designs, five blind round arches positioned on coritian semi columns down below and a shrine window surmounted by a thirteenth hundred century mosaic.


Bishop’s Palace (Palazzo dei Vescovi)
The thirteen hundred century palace restored during the first years of the 20th century encloses a cloister with ruins of the frescos by Paolo Uccello and fragments of Andrea del Castagno’s sinopia.


Via di San Leonardo
The countryside lane that leads to the small romansque church by San Leonardo in Arcetri, and conserves the pulpit from the Tuscan school from the 14th century. The road ends St.Giorgio’s Door from the Middle Ages.


Belvedere Fortress (Forte di Belvedere)
Currently the residence of the temporary exhibitions. It was erected by Bernardo Buontalenti and Giovanni de’ Medici in 1590-95.


Cascine Park (Parco delle Cascine)
Green area of 118 hectors, it develops for 3 km westwards of the city, between the left embankment of the Arno, the Macinante and Mugnone canal.
